As a plus size model, I'm always looking for more ways to show my body love! Whether it's going for a long walk, a yoga class, a sheet mask for my face, or a long, hot, bubble bath, I go out of my way to take amazing care of myself on the regular.

Here are four body love rituals you can apply to your own routine!

1. Showing Your Body Love Through Movement

A few years ago, I stopped using the word "exercise" and started to refer to it as showing my body love through movement. This shifted my mindset towards gonig to the gym, or going for a run, or going to yoga.

"Exercise" is a chore. It's something you have to do in order to lose weight, or be a more virtuous human being. But showing your body love through movement is a sacred ritual designed to make you feel amazing! And that's exactly what moving your body should be.  See how shifting your mindset feels to you!

2. Bubble Baths

I take a bath almost every day. I use either bubbles, or salts / mineral solutions to remove toxins from my skin and restore my spirit. Water is extremely soothing. Our bodies are made up of over 70% water, and being in or near water has massive restorative properties.

Although taking a shower is quicker, taking a few extra minutes to soak my body in the tub is a small way I carve out more time for self care every day (or at least, most days). You can light a candle or take a hot cup of tea into the tub with you for some extra body-lovin'!

3. Getting Lots of Sleep

Keeping with the trend of making a sacred ritual out of the things you do every day, like move your body and bathe, I approach sleep as a sacred ritual for my body. Instead of just collapsing into bed after a few glasses of wine each night, I've set up an optimal routine and am militant about my bedtime, so that I can be rested and ready to take on the day!

I wind down starting around 10pm, no matter what. If I absolutely can't avoid being up late, I try to clear some room in my schedule to either start my day a little late or take a power nap the following day. I wear a sleep mask so that light doesn't prevent me from sleeping soundly. I use a night cream that hydrates and nourishes my skin, so that I look and feel my best. Sleep is one of the most important things we can do for our bodies and our minds to function properly. Make it a priority!

4. Skincare

If you haven't noticed, skincare is a thread that is woven throughout all of the above activities. Even movement, because your skin is the largest organ in your body, and working up a sweat is the only way to cleanse it!

I'm a huge fan of using sheet masks for a periodic boost. These are especially nice when traveling! You can also use clay masks or moisture masks on a more routine basis. I use a moisturizer with SPF every single day, and a hydrating serum or cream every night. I cleanse my skin by exfoliating several times and week, and using a gentle cleanser every day. I wear hats in the sun to avoid overexposure, and baths and sauna sessions help ensure that my skin is well-moisturized and free of toxins from head-to-toe.

You only get one body for the duration of your lifetime. Make sure you take amazing care of it by adopting these, as well as any other body-lovin' rituals that make you feel amazing! XO
